Before anyone asks we will be doing some updated SLI and CF testing over the next few weeks. :)

Thank you for your hard work, I bet that took a long time

comparing new cards with new cards is fine, but I think most of us would have preferred to have seen a 4000 series card or a 260 throw in the mix instead of the same model cards being bench marked against different brands

I honestly would not have expected the sapphire 5770 to do that well against the old cards and the new cards

Kind of makes me think that the new 6000 series is just for show, at least for now

EDIT: too many colors, lol

I think i got the 450sli mixed up with the 5770, that makes more sense

Different brands means different BIOS :)

Its getting harder and harder to keep going back to older cards. We only have so much room and only so much time to test. :( Not to mention the fact that as I start changing our benchmarks there will no reason to test that stuff since they are not DX11 based that is another major issue we are facing :(

The only negative I see from this release is that the stock cooler apparently sounds like my 4870X2's stock cooler when cranked up to 100%. On the other hand, I don't really think that's a huge issue considering the 6870/6850 stock fan never even gets close to 100% even when running Furmark/Kombuster from the reviews I've seen so far.

Awesome sauce. So the 6850/6870 are the same performance as the 5850/5870 only at 50-100 dollars cheaper.

Can't wait to see a larger price drop from nVidia on their lower end cards. I'd love to pick up a 450 for under a hundred bucks. XD

Load power for this card comes in at 181 watts when in use and a paltry 19watts is used when in an idle state.

Love this

Probably still would get a 460 1GB over either

Nice review fellas!

I wish they did some reviews doing overclocked settings compared to stock. Anyone even thinking of getting the 6870 or 6850 will be thinking about getting a GTX 470 or a GTX 460 1GB. I think overclocked, the GTX 470 / 460 1GB would win in a price/performance overclocked competition. In SLI, definitely. Only Legit Reviews and Tom's Hardware has done an overclock on the 6870 and 6850, and I wasn't impressed (with the overclocked margins). Tom's Hardware (though they try), always compare overclocked results stupidly. Overclocked HD 6870 vs stock GTX 470 or stock GTX 460 1GB. C'mon, really? Also, never any overclocked SLI or overclocked Crossfire comparisons, either.
