ir_cow Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 where are you getting this information from? also I would just get arctic silver 5 and call it a day, no need to look for the very best.
SpikeSoprano Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 What the heck does w\mk even mean? Thermal paste is not that complicated, just get a known brand and call it a done, so long as you don't use peanut butter for paste it will do the job. Thermal paste is not that complicated, just get a known brand and call it a done, so long as you don't use peanut butter for paste it will do the job. It's a measurement of thermal conductivity. Higher is better.
SpikeSoprano Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 So that would mean the ac mx4 is the better paste, now I know.

Higher is better but many reviews is fake or............ is aprox. same score mx-4 vs deepcool z5: http://skinneelabs.com/wp-content/uploads/TIMBestTemp5.png http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Thermal-Compound-Roundup-February-2012/1490/5 etc in many sites search via google:) @I Am A Cow...you do not know this information but you have over 5000 post in section harware etc and me simply men you give information. wevsspot Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I'm assuming that you're going to change the cpu cooler too right? Otherwise, there isn't enough difference in TIM (assuming good quality brand name) that achieves your end goal.
SpikeSoprano Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 That's exactly what I was getting at Wev, unless your doing a delid on a haswell any of the known good brands will work fine, why spend$10 to$20 more for a 2 degree less difference. RedFury77 Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I saw a very comprehensive test somewhere once before, and it turns out that in a pinch...mayonnaise works well as a tim. Mustard, not so much. I think the mayo worked as well as some store bought stuff, at least for a little while. The article is out there somewhere if you want to read it for a laugh. ohldboy Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 TIM performance only partly depends on composition. Application, method and amount, pressure between CPU and cooler, and surface finishes all contribute. I like non conductive TIMs, which most are, As a novice, MX-2 is easier to apply, and quite good. I like the Artic TIM remover/surface cleaner set, goes on sale about $8. Or a pharmacy should have 91% alcohol, also good.
