Is it faster then your 580GTX SLI is what I want to know.

No, it doesn't even beat my GTX 570's in SLI with a 2600K at 4.8Ghz for half the price. ;)

Once he gets a higher overclock and a second 7970 (or most likely, a 7990), then it'll pwn... or run the 3DMark benchmark at higher resolutions.

Can you crossfire a 7970 with a 7990? I mean the 7990 is basically 2x 7970 so you'd think it should work.

Yes, but it'd be tri-fire, just like any other set-up of 6990 + 6970, or 5970 + 5870. However, usually the dual-gpu cards don't get as fast an overclock.

Yeah, I know that

If you put an 7990 and 7979 together and ended up with normal Crossfire it'd be no gain :teehee:

Yeah, single GPU's OC better, but a dual GPU usually takes less power and less $$$ than two separate cards, doesn't it?

Everyone knows 3D Mark 11 favours Nvidia, but P10600 is not bad considering Im only at 4GHz on my 3930k while you are at 4.8GHz . Once I get to 5GHz, it should be a couple hundred points which is very good for Nvidia favoured bench.

Once drivers mature, it'll be even better - you cant compare drivers that have been maturing for over a year to ones just released for the card.

Ok I just saw this thread has 17 pages and I thought, "man this must be a big build going on". So I went through all 17 pages and didn't see anything

I want to see some stuff soon

  • 1 month later...

Ok updated.

Finally received and installed my WC imported from the US :D Also received my other 2x4Gb 2133mhz Ripjaws X so I can make it 4x4Gb for Quad Channel :)

Got the 3930K upto 5GHz at 1.46V for stable benching (needs more volts for hours of gaming) and 4.6GHz is stable at 1.4V for 24/7 :)

Got a Corsair Performance Pro 128Gb Sata 6G SSD arriving on Friday :D

Sold the WD Caviar Black 1Tb Sata 6G so am going to use the 500Gb for games until I get another 1Tb when prices drop in a year or so

So yeah :) Will take pics soon (not my usual "soon" - as in it gets done in a few months time :P - but hopefully next weekend or the weekend after that :) )
