  1. The new graphics card might be something later as it does play the games I am currently playing pretty well but the SSD is probably the next logical upgrade.
  2. So I finally built the machine over the weekend. Came out very nicely. Ended up with: P8P67 Pro Core i5 2500k 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black 8GB 1600Mhz G Skill CL8 RAM CM 690 II Advanced Works quite wonderfully but just a bit lagging on the HDD part where Windows 7 experience index has it pegged at a 5.9.
  3. I have been thinking about getting F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM and a Asrock P67 Extreme 4 but nothing set in stone yet.
  4. Just an update: I picked up the 2500k because it was on sale at canada computers for $209. I have not decided on the motherboard yet. Also curious, what kind of incompabilities should I be on the look out for? My dad keeps mentioning how ram & motherboard need to be compatible but I have my doubts if you just pick up the right parts and make sure everything is set correctly.
  5. I was recommended on this forum to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 but i was also recommended to get this from canada computers... G.Skill Ripjaws X series DDR3 1600MHz (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428 what's the difference between the two?
  6. To give this topic some life: So apparently Canadacomputers has some deals going on. The Motherboard I was being recommended: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_722&item_id=037036 The Case http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_112&item_id=027983 The HDD http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_210_212&item_id=029337 (what's the difference between black green and blue anyways?) opinions? Also what is the difference between the GSkill memory sticks with the PC3-12800 etc?
  7. What's a good H67 mobo then? How much will I be saving?
  8. Personal experience says that canada computers is cheaper than tigerdirect and sometimes on par with newegg hence why I am considering Canada Computers. Is there a speed difference with the chipsets you are recommending?
  9. Ok lets say I dont plan to overclock... whats your suggestion then?
  10. Well I like to have... options I see that Canada Computers is having a sale on CPUs this weekend though. 194.99 for a Core i5 2500. If I went with that instead, would I be able to overclock that CPU?
  11. Hmm I do not intend to overclock really but Im to listen to opinions. Also addendum to my previous post: what does the Xseries and Non x series for ripjaws do?
  12. I went to Canada Computers and got this quote: Intel Core i5 2400 189.99 G.Skill Ripjaws X series DDR3 1600MHz (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL) 84.99 Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 119.99 Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 84.99 Asus DRW-24B1ST Black Sata 24x DVD-writer 24.99 Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced 89.99 Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 1GB GDDR5 74.88 Corsair GS600 600W PSU 79.99 for a total after taxes: $859.49 Opinions? Also what is the difference between the ripjaws u outlined and the one I was quoted for?
  13. Im in Canada. While my budget is $1000, are there parts where I can skim on money? Also some of these brands are new to me, are there any reviews or opinions on these brands?
  14. In terms of budget... I am aiming somewhere around 1000 dollars. As for motherboards, do you have any other recommendations besides ASUS? I find ASUS tech support terribad.
  15. Referring to this topic here: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=184476 I started buying new parts for my old computer to test what was wrong. In the end it seems like it is the motherboard that has failed on me now and I am looking to get a new computer. However I am not sure what I should be buying for the Motherboard, RAM and the CPU. It would be great if someone could provide some input. Here is what I have and looking for: Case: Cooler Master CM690 Advanced II PSU: Corsair GS600 Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 (this is what I am looking for in parts that I do not have at the moment) CPU: Intel Core i5 (not sure which one I should be getting) Memory: 6GB DDR3 (recommendations please) Motherboard: Something within $150 range Any help would be great.
