  1. Hey guys, I'm working here at the university and my boss is having me set up kiosk computers with only the internet on them to access the recreation departments websites. We're using Firefox and the only problem we're having is we wanted the browser to open automatically if closed so we ran it as a service and had it auto restart. This works fine sometimes but other times it won't recognize that one instance is already open and will continue to open up Firefox. Right now we're just going to leave the computer with the icon on the desktop so if it is closed it can be reopened and we locked out the rest of the computer, but is there a way to do this? We are using Windows SteadyState to lock it down along with various plugins for Firefox and some registry tweaks. Thanks guys.
  2. I figured you guys would be able to help pick out the right parts. I've been out of the loop for so long I told him to post up here and get some advice. Looks like it should be a pretty nice rig though and it'll be fun putting it together, haha.
  3. To OP, generally composite score is adding those top three numbers, not including those subscores, so yours is actually 1870. I took it once last year, no studying, got a 1990. Same on the ACT and I got a 32 composite, I think those were my saviors getting into college since my GPA wasn't all that stellar and I don't know exactly how great my essays were. I'm just a good test taker, haha, always loved multiple choice!
  4. Actually, that was really good, haha
  5. Hmm, maybe I will list mine here at the university and see if anyone's interested. I was thinking marketing ploy too, because I can't be the only one willing to spend upwards of $250 on a video game accessory... am I?
  6. Eh, well I don't think he's going to try anything to break in, I put in some account passwords so I think I'm good, plus I couldn't get the other prompt to come up with the Apple-Option-o-f to bring up a prompt. I just wanted a bit of extra security if I could, but this'll work for now!
  7. Alright guys, so I'm in college and I want some protection on my computer. Most of all I've got a roommate who insists on trying to use my computer while I'm not here. So pretty much I want to put on a Bios password similar to a PC but I'm not sure where to find it on a Macbook Pro or if there is this option. I found this website with instructions on how to do what I want it looks like, but the other thing I'm not sure about is if this will work with refIt because I'm using it to triple boot. Thanks guys.
  8. No other racing game fans out there? I'm looking forward to the (previously October) release of NFS: Pro Street on November 15th!
  9. Alright, so, I'm planning on triple booting my laptop... actually I've done more than plan it, I've attempted it for the last 3 days and haven't been able to get it to work right. I've followed various guides on the internet but have not been able to get it to work. I have my Mac partition all setup, have partitioned using both the Mac Terminal and using GParted, then installed windows and got it running and had a successful dual-boot, and then when I install Linux is where things go weird. Once linux is installed, the refIt boot loader will go to the Linux partition when I select the Windows partition. I know Windows was written on my last partition and I only have the 4 partitions allowed with my root of Ubuntu on my 3rd partition and the first two being the EFI loader and the Mac partition, but I don't know how to get all three bootable. As soon as I install Ubuntu I lose the ability to boot into Windows. Installing Lilo only gave 2 Linux icons in refIt and one Windows icon which still directed me to my Linux partition. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Oh, for the record, my Macbook specs are in my sig and I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 i386 and have tried every guide I could Google. Thanks!
  10. Wow... that's quite a bit for shipping... are there any other cheaper alternatives? If that's what it's going to cost I'm just going to have to find a bag around here somewhere...
  11. Alright, I am in the process of looking for a laptop bag for my 17" Macbook Pro and remembered (I believe it was nrg, can't quite remember though) the posts about the Crumpler bags. Well, here in the US the styles kinda... suck, and the only one I liked they discontinued, so I stumbled upon the UK Crumpler Bag site and... Wow! So, I would like to get one of those UK Crumpler Bags (Super Boomer XL in Black/Silver) but they won't ship to the US. So I was wondering if any UK member would be willing to take delivery of one and relay it on to me. I'm not sure how much shipping would be back here to the US and don't even know where I'd get a quote for that... so if anyone can help out, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!
  12. Glad to hear you've matured so much. And if something bad comes up at 90 or 70, there really isn't that much of a difference... heck if something bad comes up at any speed most people don't know what to do... Maybe I just sympathize with him because I know, at least where I've been driving here in So Cal, on freeways, the norm is about 80-90, and if you're not going that fast then you're getting idiots swerving around you left and right which doesn't seem safe at all, and in fact you can get a ticket for that, obstructing the flow of traffic, so really, if the cops want to give you a ticket they'll give you a ticket <_< On the other hand, to agree with everyone... You do have priors so you seem quite stuck and you will probably end up paying unless he doesn't show up. Good luck and Godspeed... er... Goddon'tspeed!
  13. I was thinking the same thing... Everybody here sounds like they've never done it in their lives... Maybe it's just cause I'm another one of those reckless kids on the road, but I know it is common to go down the freeway and be going nearly 90MPH and still have cars passing like nothing. But to the OP... well... although it is common, you were the one they caught, so... Check out that site someone posted earlier, see what your options are, but I don't think fighting this is going to do much. You can hope the cop doesn't show up and that would be your way out, but if he does, then it probably won't make you look too good since you don't have any defense. Why weren't you allowed access to the laser guns calibration records?
  14. Until he wrecks it somehow or even worse, he could be a great and cautious driver, but the people that he comes in contact with are also inexperienced stupid teenagers and one of them smacks into the nice new Bimmer... Can you imagine insurance and/or a repair bill on that? <_<
