  1. Ok guys, I have a project that I need to complete this summer for work. I am going to be bringing down some older servers and virtualizing new ones. I am going to be using hyper-v, and I am going to be moving 3-6 servers to the new virtual server. Let me start by giving you a bit of background. Server 1: Does DHCP, and is a file server Server 2: Application Server Server 3: Web server, Exchange 2010 Server 4: Domain Controller Server 5: Backup Domain Controller, Printer Server Server 6: NAS box 3.6TB (7200 rpm ZFS raid) My ideal scenario would be to visualize everything, and to be able to consolidate down. Although I am not sure of how to guesstimate what kind of stats my new server is going to have to have. Prerequisites: Multi Processor, Hopefully 8-16 cores (not sure on models) 32-64gb's of memory multi-network cards (gig infrastructure) at least 2-4TBs of space (redundant) 10k-15k RPMs if possible My budget 5,000-7,000 I am sure I am asking a lot for that small of a budget, but well that's all i got. Any recommendations? Thanks, Vyro
  2. I am in the market for a MINI-ITX mobo, I have a few spare AM2's and ddr2 ram. I was going to put together a HTPC. Anyone have one for sale?
  3. I am in the process of getting all new machines for my users. I have 2 users that don't fit the mold of what I am buying direct from dell. They are users that do allot of photo / video editing. Putting together large compilations of media. As is they are frustrated with their windows machines because they are just terrible multimedia machines. My question is what would make a really good Photoshop / Video editing computer (stats, hardware), and is there something that dell sells that fits those criteria. These people really want mac computers, but our domain is windows, and my boss does not want to have a hybrid environment. Thanks for your help!
  4. Looking at this: Samsung 840 Series 2.5 inch 120GB SATA III internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7TD120BW Price:$101.78 http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-120GB-internal-Solid-MZ-7TD120BW/dp/B009NHAF06/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1361549306&sr=1-1&keywords=ssd Anyone have it?
  5. Hey guys, I am looking at getting an SSD, One of my Drives in my raid array is finally going out and I can justify spending the money. I want to stick with a smaller drive like 128 because I have a freenas box hosting all storage, Here are my specs: Intel Core i5 3570k (ivy bridge) ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 G.Skill RipJaw Z Series 8GB DDR3-2800 Thermaltake Black Widow 850w GPU: Saphire HD 5750 (SOON TO BE REPLACED)(TEMP CARD TILL PAYDAY) Dual Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM RAID-0 Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Thanks for the suggestions, Vyro!
  6. Yeah, I may give it a rest soon. Its been cranking away. I believe the distro I installed was non-beta, 8.2.0-Release-p1-x64 (r11950)
  7. 82 hours later and I am Still not even half way through converting. And look at those nasty CPU temps.... (UGH) (Macs apparently don't have good cooling).
  8. What's liquid are you using ? Distilled, propaline glycol?
  9. Looking Sweet, I am so tempted to get back into water cooling. What are you going to fill that thing with ?
  10. I am just curious why my post stars are not showing up under my avatar. That is all.
  11. I have a nexus7, and I can't say enough good about it. I really only use it for trips, bathroom time, and when I am too lazy to get off the couch to look something up or read a book. Battery life is good, but not the best i have seen. My ipad has a better battery life. But over all the smaller size makes this a better machine. I love it! Pros: Small size Great CPU Great Screen Lightweight Android OS jelly bean Removable battery gorilla glass Cons: no SD slot no smart cover plastic edges meh: Battery could be better.
  12. I have, I have used their x series, and I am piloting their M series atm. I really don't care for them. They are not as polished as I would like. Reasons being they do not support autodiscover of the server that is on a different vlan.
