  1. Just got my new card installed and all.. It sure takes its toll on the CPU when gaming, but the CPU doesn't appear to be a bottleneck, bot even when clocked to stock settings! Went from avg 45 fps on Medium to an avg of 50 fps on Ultra settings. Thank you guys for your advice, helped me to a decision!
  2. My friend can play the game on ultra with the AO on SSAO instead of HBAO and no AA @1080P with a solid 40+ fps on his 6970 non overclocked (quite a bit weaker than the gtx 760 you are getting). So i can assure you, you will be playing it on ultra 1080P quite nicely and if you overclock you might even hit 50+ stable. Then again he has an i7 920 @3.4 ghz, although i doubt bf4 will be THAT massive of a cpu hog... Sound really nice. I really hope for a solid 40+ fps. Hmm, I heard that BF4 really is THAT massive of a cpu hog, but let's put it to a test
  3. Thank you for your replies. Been running @ 3.6 Ghz pretty stable since I created this topic. Will go ahead and buy the MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr graphics card, and hopefully have it tomorrow. Then it will be exciting to see if I can finally play BF4 on ultra settings If not, then I will try crank the oc a bit up and see if that helps.
  4. Hi there OCC. I'm planning on doing some upgrades to my gaming rig, since it's a bit outdated. I thought of buying the GTX 760 as an upgrade from my HD6870. I'm playing some BF4 and would like to be able to play on Ulta settings with a 40< fps. I heard it is very CPU-demanding, so I thought that maybe it wouldn't be that much of an upgrade, if my Phenom II x4 955 would be a bottleneck. What do you guys think? Would a full upgrade be the only "real" upgrade here, or would a pure GPU upgrade make a nice difference? Thank you. (See rig specs in signature, down below)
  5. The prices in Denmmark, where I live, are far from those you posted, unfortunately :/The 760 goes for around 330$ and the 7950 for 370$, calculated. I calculated only a $13USD difference (Palit 760 vs XFX Double D 7950) yup, but I already stated that I don't like the XFX one

  7. Thank you for your input. I might take your advice and see what the new year brings. After reading that it's actually the game itself that's buggy, I've tried running on High video setting, which gives me an avg of 40 fps. I can live with that until January, I think
  8. Its not a driver, its a brand new API by AMD : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantle_(API) Its not only BF4 that will use it, other Frostbite 3 games will also get this implemented And we'll only find out in December the exact performance gains. But it sounds like you already made up your mind on your 760, since everything better is out of your price range... Thank you for clearing that out for me! Since I got an old AMD 6870, it doesn't seem like this applies to me. Well, not completely. It just seems like the 760 is the best gpu in my price range at the moment. The AMD 7950 from XFX previously posted, doesn't really appeal to me, somehow :/
  9. Thank you for your reply. So you agree that upgrading from 6870 to a 760 is a smart choice for me? Yeah, a 760 or a 7950 are both great choices. Since the 760 is much cheaper, I'd say get that. Both cards trade blows pretty evenly. Technically the 7950 is better but at a moderate resolutions like 1080P the vram deficiency on the 760 won't affect you. Thank you for your replies. You seem to recommend the GTX 760 as well. The 7950 is just outside of my budget. Furthermore, I get AC4 Black Flag + Splinter Cell - Blacklist for free if I buy a 760. Yay A friend of mine told me that EA will update their drivers to a more AMD friendly version. Does anybody know if this is true, and if it has that much of a difference at all?

  11. Corsair TX650 v2 Hmm, Gigabyte perhaps

  13. Hello there experts. So, I just got Battlefield 4, and guess what, my system can't really do more than a custom setting of low and medium graphics settings. On pure medium settings, there is an occasional lag. I have had this hardware system for a bit over 2 years, and it has done its job fine until now. Nothing is wrong, I just need more power, and I think the problem is my GPU. My question for you is: which gpu should I buy in the price range of 290-360$ (estimated DKK->$) to be able to play BF4 properly in ultra settings? Have been looking at the GTX 760, which seems rather good for the price (1800 DKK/327$), but I'm not sure this is the best choice? I hope someone can help me in the right direction here My system specs: MB: Asus M4A87TD CPU: Amd Phenom II x4 955 BE GPU: Asus EAH6870 DC/2DI2S/1GD5 SSD: Kingston HyperX 120 GB RAM: 2x 4GB Kingston HyperX grey Monitor: Asus 24" VG248QE Regards, Skytte
  14. I've taking a closer look at it, stopping several of the fans while running, which excludes the CPU fan, GPU fan and my HDD. I'd say 80% of the noise is coming from my PSU, the Corsair TX650 v2. Furthermore the front and rear case fans are making some weird sounds. Would a video make it easier for you to help me? Ant suggestions on how to solve the problem with my PSU?
