  1. 128gb. I mean, I currently have 3200mhz, so after some consideration I decided on a set of 3200mhz bc after all 3200 is the sweet spot am I right?
  2. I know higher speed number is always better but I want to know how much of a noticeable difference is there between 2666mhz ram and 3600mhz ram on an i9 9900k and Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra. I will be gaming and general productivity. FYI, the difference in price between the two "identical" sets I'm looking at getting is $150. One set is 18-18-18-43 1.20V while the other set is 18-22-22-42 1.35V. How much of a difference in performance speed would I be missing out in games and general productivity if I went with the cheaper set? Thank you for your help!
  3. My nephew already has a main monitor (MSI G27C4) for gaming. He is looking for a 2nd monitor for general desktop multi-tasking use. Nothing fancy, just a basic 1080p 60Hz monitor with wall mount and DP or DVI-D input. He plans to use it for things such as Discord, YouTube, etc while he is gaming on his main display. His budget is $100 or less. One example I found is Acer K242HQL on ebay. It is open box like new condition for $100. Any other good suggestions?
  4. I have no cooling issues with the old fans (TY-147A & TY-143). Just looking for RGB. There is a noticeable difference in the specs between the 143 and the ARGB fan I want (4 mm H20 vs 2 mm H20 / 130ish CFM vs 70ish CFM) so hopefully a downgrade in fan cooling performance won't be an issue. Unfortunately, it seems the fans are some sort of uncommon proprietary shape designed to fit only with their cooler clip. I did try to use a 140mm RGB fan frame (i.e., Phanteks Halos) which will neither align correctly with the screw holes nor fit in the space between the fan and the memory module. The only compatible fan that I know of is the Thermalright TL-D14S ARGB which seems to be discontinued and found nowhere to be sold. I emailed the Thermalright company and waiting on their reply. Perhaps someone with an idea (not replacing the CPU cooler) or better search skills than I can chime in and kindly point me in the right direction please? Thank you!
  5. I compiled a pcpartpicker list for my 15 yo nephew's first PC biuld. The maximum budget is $1,500. The primary use is for FPS shooters. No peripherals or OS system is needed. He is pretty much set on an Intel/Nvidia build even though I think he should go AMD route. He is not going to be overclocking so I do not think he needs an aftermarket CPU cooler. I also need help in choosing the right video card. I am open to buying a used CPU and GPU. Purchases are planned for BF. I appreciate anybody's input and thanks in advance! $349.11 Intel Core i7-10700 2.9 GHz 8-Core Processor $215.48 MSI MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI ATX LGA1200 Motherboard $86.18 G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory $101.81 Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive N/A EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB SC BLACK GAMING Video Card $107.73 NZXT H510i ATX Mid Tower Case $123.90 Corsair RM (2019) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $199.33 AOC C24G1 24.0" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor $1,183.54 Grand Total (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4Z8wgt)

  8. ok, I understand Ryzen 3000 chips get a nice boost in peformance from higher ram speed. (i.e., 20%) Is this improvement reflected in just benchmarks, or also in real world applications and gaming fps (and is the price difference worth the extra fps gain)?
  9. Looking to pair the x570 AORUS Elite mobo (reviewed by buildzoid) with some great memory (along with a 3700x and 2080 ti for 1440p/144hz heavy gaming + light productivity) Does anyone know what ram works with this mobo? I tried researching the following but I am even more confused. G.Skill Flare X 3200 CL 14 - The ram qvl says it works with this mobo but the mobo qvl says it is not G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 CL 16 - The mobo qvl says the ram is compatible but the ram qvl says it does not work G.Skill Trident Z - Neither mobo or ram qvl says the ram works with x570 AORUS Elite mobo. okay. Any other brands which work with this mobo that I should consider? Thanks! :)
  10. The Dell latitude 2120 was too slow. So I went ahead and bought an evoo laptop. Much better.
  11. She cannot use Linux. I am going to install Windows 10 first and if there are no driver installation issues, briefly replicate what she would be doing to hopefully not be sluggish. If it is or I encounter crashing and freezing, I will switch to Windows 7.
  12. I am getting an old laptop for my cousin to use for shopping online and excel spreadsheet. which is pretty much what she will only use it for. it has no OS but was wondering if it is better to install windows 10 or windows 7, from a performance perspective?
  13. I went ahead and snagged a new Inland Professional 480GB SSD for $39 on ebay. It is a relatively modern drive and has a 3 yr warranty I plan to use this as a gaming storage drive on a secondary gaming laptop on occasion. Hope this is worth it.
  14. thansk for the info. is a intel 520 480gb for $30 worth it? it has 39 TB written on it with 100% health status.
