  1. I placed the order for the fan you recommended. Afterwards though, I popped off my existing heat sink and fan for the video card and found that my huge old heat sink for my processor would actually fit it. http://www.mcgail.com/kwicpucoolfa3.html I have room beneath my card for it to fit, think I should cancel my order and slap this big thing on, or is that a little outrageous? The reason I had this one to spare is because it didn't do a perfect job of cooling my AMD 1.33. I got a EKL to replace the Kingwing/Kwi shown above, but the fan still spins and everything. I don't really know whats wrong with it, but I know I was getting system heat warnings before I switched.
  2. Ah, thank you thank you. Questions are getting answered. I like this fourm B) I sure hope my adventure with the voltage selector didn't harm anything. I only tested it just long enough to see if the smaller fan turned on, so just under a minute. Lets hope I didn't melt my processor or anything. I would see a difference right? It boots fine. Hey, I'm pricing some new power supplies and some are around 80 bucks, but then some are really expensive. They are the same wattage, and the fans seem to be the same so whats the diff? Thanks!
  3. Ok, I think I will try this out: http://www.xpcgear.com/ttgiantii.html Anyone have any other ideas? Oh, and about the power supply, I run a AMD 1.33Ghz with two hard drives and that Gf 3 card. I plan on adding a few more fans. What wattage should I get?
  4. I was playing Morrowind and the game kept locking up. After reading a few threads here and there I considered the possibility that my video card (Gf 3 Ti) was overheating. Well, I turned my PC on, opened up the case, looked at the fan run, and it hardly even turns. The card gets so hot, I can't even touch it. Thats not a joke either. I'm afraid that the damage may already be done, but I can still boot up and use the card. Well, being the super genius that I happen to be, I decided to grab a (closed top) pen and touch it to the fan. When I put just the slightest bit of pressure on the fan, its spins like crazy and I can feel the heat blow off the thing. I removed the card and jacked around with the fan, cleaning it with air and trying to see whats wrong, but nothing helped. The way my PC is set up, the cards all face down, so my video card GPU and fan face towards the floor. I began to think that gravity was playing a part in this delema, so guess what I did... yeah, turned my PC upside down. He he, I'm so smart huh? Well, the fan did nothing different, so I just felt like a jackass. Well, I recently added a 2nd HD to my system so I thought it may be a power problem. I have a 240 ish watt power supply, but the little red switch on the back of it has been on 115 by default. I don't know what that switch does, so I decided to jack around with it. I have a fan on my CPU and another smaller fan on my mother board. With the red switch turned to 115 (like its always been) the mother board fan comes on during boot up. When I switched the red switch from 115 to 245 (or whatever those little numbers said last night) the mother board fan would come on during boot up. That sounds opposite to me, but hey, what do I know? Anyways, I remember specificly telling the company that built my custom PC to give me a 400w power supply, but thats another story. Should I upgrade my power??? Well, I'm thinking I need to replace my fan on my Gf3, any suggestions there? What fan should I get? Oh, and am I the only one with my cards upside down?
