Pteroduck Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 That's right folks. Not a PCI-e riser but a PCI riser for some cheap raid cards. Are there such things and if so, where?I searched on google but to no avail. Only pci-e came up.If I were to rise a r9 290 with a pci-e riser, would it affect my performance? I'm kinda low on space in my case...
Waco Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 PCI risers? They're hard to find given it's an outdated standard that hasn't been natively supported in nearly half a decade. PCIe risers don't have any impact in performance as long as you get a x16 riser that doesn't introduce errors. I have one on my desk that was super cheat and it worked well when I used it. Pteroduck Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I was planning to extend my graphics card outside of the case to get some more airflow. Could you recommend me some risers that wouldn't produce any errors of sorts?
Waco Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 You'd probably be a lot better off getting a new case. Good risers aren't cheap. You can get x8 ribbon risers but mounting and quality is almost always an issue.
Pteroduck Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 It's a playtoy PC, I wouldn't worry too much about it besides making things work in it . I'd use tape and superglue to mount it as well... Just a side project, but never the less, something for me to work on
