kaveri build memory speed question

Recommended Posts

Ok everybody in about 2 or 3 weeks I should be building a kavari cpubuild I'm using an A10 7850k as my CPU. I have seen some impressive fps differences in games with high speed memory on a 6800k setup. Should I pair the 7850 with a r7 250 and a crossfire setup or get a liquid cooler and over clock the graphics and CPU and then pair it with some 2400 MHz ram and then attempt to push the ram further?

A dedicated GPU will stomp the onboard graphics if you're planning on serious gaming. For the cost of a liquid cooler you could go with a lesser CPU and a much stronger GPU for around the same cost and be far better off in terms of gaming performance.

Waco is right and wrong at the same time. The APU graphics can actually do a decent job for a beginner gaming rig. A lot of games will run at 1080 with medium to low settings and at 720 many will work up to high. If you are building a pure gaming rig and have the budget then a discrete card will give you more horsepower. You can get an Athlon 750 with a 7770 video card for about $20 more than a high end APU and get better performance.

Now if you want to go bigger on the GPU and do not yet have the budget the APU build makes an awesome stepper system. Build up with a solid APU system and then down the road when you can afford a better graphics card like an R9 270 you can plug it right in and go.

As for crossfire, I have never been a fan of it in any of it's forms. The performance in Crossfire and SLI is hit and miss a single bigger video card is always a better solution.

I was thinking of using this exactly as a stepping rig For now this would be it I plan on pushing the memory and the CPU igpu as far as possible. I saw someone on YouTube getting 30 fps on high settings on bf4 with this and 2133 memory so for know I figured overclock it see what happens and in a few months put in a the toxic 280x by sapphire and then later a 750 or 1tb evo.

i so wish i hadn't painted myself into a corner by going with the fm2 platform,...there will be no kaveri at my house without going to fm2+ mobo also, which makes me me want to go the high end vishera 8 core route...the fm2/6800k is awesome, don't get me wrong, but the the upgrade path is a dead end...and i've only used the onboard gpu like one time in the beginning for some benchies...it's hard to out perform a pair of cf'd 7970's...

i hope amd runs the fm2+ for longer than they ran the fm2...

So well were at it is it true that the 6 or 8 core steamroller CPU are possibly going to be ddr4? Also somebody remind me that's the memory controller that determines that right or is it the chipset I forget?

memory controller I remember that coming into play with the ddr2/ddr3 phenom chips. If your going to be playing BF4 check out some benchmarks with the apus running it with the mantle update I got a nice boost on my R7 260X. but the high frequency memory will definitely make a difference for the built in gpu

I Personally was hoping to see an ROG board for this socket but for right now ASUS is saying they are to bogged down with finishing Haswell ROG boards I'm how much of this is true and how much is that they're waiting for AMD to decide if Carristo is going to be on this socket or an entirely new socket. Honestly IMO I believe either Kavarie or Carristo when it comes out especially being DDR4 is in a position to make a ROG mini itx like the maximus impact a possibility for an AMD chip. The reason we won't see it for awhile is ASUS has to design an ROG board from the ground up so they aren't going to go through that then turn around and do it two seconds later for an entirely different platform and chip set.
