I never used to talk crap in games

Recommended Posts

Lolumad? I was joking. I occasionally get switched but it's usually maybe once or twice a week, and i keep switching back till I get back on the original team, or I quit. I must be doing it wrong.

I'm not mad. I don't even play BF3. I still think mid-game team swapping is retarded though. And so is punishing a good player for the sake of the cry babies.

Yes, lets lower our standards to the under acheivers of society. This kind of thinking pisses me off. And no not about a game but this is what happens in RL. Like taxing people more when they make more money. Because someone is good at what they do and strives for success they get punished for it. It's like a socialism mentality that rewards lazyness.

Toasty was joking: He is very fluent in sarcasm. And I actually found his post pretty funny, because he's also good at sarcasm.

-I wish they had a server blacklist system, because on some servers this will happen occasionally, which is fine. On others it'll literally swap me back and forth like the party stripper, upwards of five times in a single game.. Like it doesn't know where it wants me, and of course that can be quite annoying.

And as for the custom filters: I've never tried unselecting autobalance, but for a reason because I've considered it: As with any filters you're gonna find a "special" server where the server owner/admin set the game via console in some way that doesn't conform to the filters.

It's kinda like this, which has happened all too often: I want to play Rush or Domination, so I select those in the server filter browser, and apply and refresh my list. I see a server listed as currently playing Domination, advertising 1000 tickets and slow vehicle respawn. Well I like what I see, so I join.

And it's TDM, Infantry Only, with crap mid-game autobalance every 30 seconds. :pfp:

Oh wait.. this is exactly what happened last night to tick me off and make me create this thread. Lol, silly me.

--It said I edited this thread when I never did.. :dunno: So HAH! Now you are edited :P Might as well give that annoying white edit bar a purpose.

NOW I'm editing this:

Anyone know who to contact to suggest changes to? Like how do you make a suggestion to DICE to implement a server blacklist option (to prevent the server from showing in server list or joining via quick match)?

I think I found a way to avoid being frustrated by the autobalance:

I'm just going full troll. Lik the Jeep thing I did, but I'm going to find as many ways to goof around as possible (while still playing the objective), until I find some servers that don't switch players mid-game that is. But until I do: Everytime I get on a server, i'm trolling until I find out which type of server it is.

the trolling shall consists of c4 shananigans and Jeep-only conquest, and whatever other goofy things I can think of. That way if I lose, it's my own doing either way. And if I win, I get a good chuckle in the process.

But welfare and EI are such great systems. No one ever abuses them and getting taxed 40% when you exceed six figures ain't so bad, that's only +$40K

Deathmineral: Troll all you want. As I'm about to point out: I'm making very valid points, whether you understand or not doesn't affect the accuracy of my thread- just your own relation to it.

Get yourself into a game (not just BF3, any online game)- Do well, be having fun.. And then just let the game say "you lose" and record that lie to the world. Especially when you are an actively competitive player: Where your stats affect what you are invited to take part in. (most notably in this game, Win/Loss Ratio- because even players with a bad K/D can be a great contribution to a BF3 team.) I've played competitively in many games before, and was hoping to be able to do so in BF3, but due to this bug I'm not even considering it until I can find a way to avoid these servers altogether.

This is no different than any other bug. Like falling through a map to your death, or shooting yourself when aiming at an enemy, or players abusing bugs to get 1-hit-kills in MMOs or force DC other players for a guaranteed win, or healing spell damaging you: This is no different: You win, only to lose for no reason. Except in this game unlike many: When these accidental messes occur, it's shared with the world that you lost in every random PUG, not just the competetive matches themselves.

Makes it hard for a competitive player to be part of a team without buying a second account for pick up games: Where you'll obviously get unlucky between 20-80% of the time, depending on which servers you decide to try out.

Then again.. I don't know if you've ever actually played a game as a member of a competitive group: You know some people enjoy that, myself being one of them.

Back to original:

I contacted DICE with the server blacklist suggestion, and included a brief summary of reasons why it could be beneficial to sales and their reputation. Mostly summed up as "it's a good game but some servers are generally a bad experience for players, and it can ruin the positive image of the game at times."

They got back to me and said they'd work on it, nothing specific really but they did send the idea to the developers, and that they understood what I was talking about and it was a concern. They seemed to imply they might implement a "quickmatch blacklist", but not block servers from appearing on a user's browser entirely, as I had mentions of both.

In the last few days, I've played less (generally had less interest, honestly). I've had some days with none of these shenanigans, and others with 100% of my games being switched, and a few servers that just seemed spiteful and only switched me when I was the MVP of the winning team. So I'm still in the middle about this:

Although the annoyance of it before (when i initially posted this thread) have made me realize that the stats in this game mean nothing: I've dominated players with better stats and lost to players with crap stats- Realistically, Battelog stats are all about luck of the draw on which server you land in; Not how good a player you are. But in the competitive game world, it's still going to based on your stats more than anything. You can be the best player in the world- but if you play pick up games, some buggy server is gonna whiddle you back down. So I still "just play" regardless of the stats, that part no longer annoys me: As I'm just trying to wait it out until i can find a system of avoiding bad servers entirely: Then I'll refocus on bringing the stats up for team play. In the meantime: My focus is on three things:

unlocks, laughs, and learning. I've become a pro-jihad (c4 troll basically), am working on learning the ranges of the maps for sniping, and just generally using every gun at least a little to get the unlocks for them.

But even ignoring the stats, it's still annoying to be winning a game or playing well and having fun.. And then yanked out of the smooth flow you're in and tossed on the other side.

Most servers don't even let you switch after a certain point in the game, or at all. But then there's these ones: With 5 tickets left, dominating the other team: You're killed by admin with only a few seconds left to lose the game before you can even spawn. Yeah, I had this happen 6 times last night. I was literally switched with not even enough time to respawn once, and got a loss for it. Also had one game where we won fair and square in Rush as i watched the final M-COM explode with 70 tickets left (we were attackers), but the end-game screen said we lost and recorded it as such. This one made absolutely no sense, and nearly the entire lobby quit within a few minutes of starting the next game. I've only had this happen maybe 10 times total, but it shouldn't happen at all.

Deathmineral: Troll all you want. As I'm about to point out: You're fail-trolling and I'm making very valid points :P So cry on my thread about me making you look bad, too. For me? Pwease?

Okey dokey lokey! :D

Oh no, my feelings are hurt! How could you say such mean things to me and make me feel like such a loser? You big doo-doo face! :(

You might think you're making very valid points but really, it's just a thread with a bunch of people crying about how unfair a game is to them. A game they don't have to play, with servers they aren't forced to play on, created by people that really don't care.

By the way, I'm not trolling at all, this is just me poking fun at a crybaby thread and having a laugh. People shouldn't be so quick to just generalize terms and slap them on whatever they feel like. However, if I was trolling, I don't think you could call it fail trolling as I quite obviously was successful in getting a response out of someone.

Also, there's nothing special going on here either, your situation isn't special, this is just something that happens in any multiplayer game. Just the other day I was playing Minecraft on a server that I was new to, I walked into someone's house, just looking around, exploring the world, and they killed me for it, just trying to be friendly and I got killed for that. I didn't whine and say it was unfair though, I just quit and never went back to that server, that's how you solve the problem, avoid it. I mean unless you just happen to get really stinking lucky, you aren't going to find a fair multiplayer game. Other than luck, your only option is to become the one in control, you have to start your own clan, club, server, etc. and even then, someone else is going to say you're being unfair to them. That's just something you have to accept, there are no fair multiplayer games, this was true before video games even existed, board games, poker, sports, you name it, someone has played it unfairly.

I'm going to include specific examples so you can't take my reply vaguely;

Being killed on a minecraft server for being friendly: that was your one example, and your only.

Minecraft doesn't have the level of competitive play BF3 does at all.

Being killed for visiting a random guy's house on minecraft ONCE is nothing like losing nearly 100 games out of 350 you've played due to bad servers.

Being killed on said server also doesn't get publicly recorded, and therefor has no effect even if you wanted to play competitively.

It's minecraft.. Being killed in minecraft is not a loss. Losing in BF3, is a loss.

You starting to see what I mean? We're on two different pages here.
