Onion Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I usually hook up my laptop to my 120 hertz TV when I play games. How can I set these games to play at 120 hertz rather than 60? For example, I play Euro Truck Simulator 2, but the only setting it offers is a 60 hertz refresh rate.
DanTheGamer11 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) What is your model? Don't tv's only have a 60hz input and they interpolate it to 120? You can try this if you want, link at the bottom. At own risk of course: http://www.overclock.net/t/1401149/true-120hz-from-pc-to-tv-list-of-tvs-successful-overclocking-of-hdtv-and-plasmas Edited May 4, 2014 by DanTheGamer11
Fight Game Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 sometimes there is a cfg (configuration) file with the games that can be editted.
slick2500 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Some games are hard locked at 60 fps.

I'm not sure what they would be with a higher signal or if intenerally it's locked at 60 input .
Master Binky Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Some are hard locked, some go with the lowest monitor setting available, so removing the 60Hz options or making the 120Hz options top of the list force 120Hz in alot of games. Depends on how you attain the 120Hz setting as well whether it's with CRU or Nvidia's custom settings, CRU seems to be more consistant in getting games to recognize the 120Hz for me though. Master Binky Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Also, to double check that you're getting 120Hz vs 60Hz, I remember there being a program that you could watch as it moved a white box around the screen, it would visibly skip spaces @ 60Hz vs 120Hz. Waco Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I'd be shocked if your TV actually accepts a 120 Hz signal versus just doing frame interpolation.
Master Binky Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I could see it accepting 120hz, and just dropping frames.
