ccokeman Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I'll vouch for that one as well!
IVIYTH0S Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I just made a bunch of small changes on my setup, I lapped my cpu and heatsink, got a new case with a 200mm top exhaust, changed the heatsink orientation to point up, took the stock thermalright fan off and replaced it with a scythe gentletyphoon, and got a bolt-on kit for my Cogage TRUE spirit, and the sum of all these made my temps sooo much better, I'd be interested in knowing how a lapped NH-D14 does. I still haven't lapped my true or IHS <_<
Bizzlenitch Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Hrm... I don't know what it is about heatsinks but every time I think about them (especially the sexy ones with the stunning figures) I get a nice warm feeling inside. Mmmmmm... heatsinks.... Waco Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Depending on the case you're using for your HTPC, you might want to give the Noctua NH-U9B Special Edition CPU Cooler a look. I think I can get the larger one to fit but I'll keep that one in mind too.
kuri Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Depending on the case you're using for your HTPC, you might want to give the Noctua NH-U9B Special Edition CPU Cooler a look.+1 I have the regular Noctua NH-U9B in a poorly ventilated case and I've never seen my mildly OC'ed 3.6Ghz E8400 above 60 Celsius. It idles at around 40. With a proper case with good ventilation, I'm sure it'll do much better.
