ccokeman Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 How about number 4 in Vantage for now. 3.7 and a mild OC

The Smith Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 What? How come only 3.7GHz? C'mon my friend!
ccokeman Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Poor Chip this 965 I have. Just getting a feel for the GPUs
The Smith Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Poor Chip this 965 I have. Just getting a feel for the GPUs I'm sure you can beat 30k easily with your great clocker 920. In fact, getting first in Vantage would be a suitable goal for you.
ccokeman Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I loose fan control by putting the 5970 and a 5870 in Crossfire so no improved
rourkchris Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 That's a damn impressive 3 way Crossfire score!
ccokeman Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Thanks Low CPU speed Low memory speed and mediocre clock speeds on the cards. Its not to bad! I'm up to 29121 but seems I am a bit limited on the GPUs on air
rourkchris Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I'm absolutely full of questions so forgive me in advance...I plan to run this configuration myself soon before getting a 2nd 5970. What is your RAM speed during your benchmarks? Have you tried AMD GPU Clock Tool to overclock the 3 GPU's? I see your GPU core clocks are below stock is that due to not having fan speed control? Any reason you weren't able to match your review's overclock speeds? Is it just me or does the 5970 look more like a 5850x2 rather than a 5870x2? Does ATI plan another dual GPU card with faster clocks speeds?
ccokeman Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Ram speed around 1440 Yes, It lets me OC the second core on the 5970 Stock clocks on the 5970 are 725/1000 or 5850 clocks to keep the power consumption to around 300 watts. The clock speeds when overclocked were 854 and 1250 on the 5970 and the same on the 5870 to keep them all the same. Lack of fan control !!! Makes a difference of about 40C It has 5850 clock speeds but 5870 parts! I was doing this more so to figure out the oddball configuration to see how it works and what needs to be done to make it work. If I can answer the questions its no problem! Hope this answers them! The Smith Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Hey guys, it seems the new 9.11 drivers increase the Vantage performance with the HD5870. TweakTown reports 1k more. Looks like it would be worth it to re-run it
