To be honest, no one really knows what Google is planning next. Though everyone seams to be in agreement that whatever Google is planning its going to be big.

There is speculation that Google plans on building a web browser, or at least rebranded version of FFirefox. Google's registration of GBrowser.com wasn't the only thing that caused a surge of rumors. The hiring of several ex-Microsoft employees, including those that worked on IE AND Avalon add more speculation that a browser is brewing. If that wasn't enough, the Google held a "Developer's Day" for Mozilla's coders on the Google campus. More surprisingly, Google hired two of Mozilla's developers, including Ben Goodger.

When Google released the Desktop Search utility rumors started to fly again. Was there a GIM (Google Instant Messenger) in the works? Code inside of the desktop search program seamed to point at the possibility of a GIM, even if Google would later dismiss the rumor.

Google states on their corp page that their mission is to "organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful". Google has done a pretty nice job at accomplishing it's goal so far, but as with anything there is always room for improvement.

With Yahoo, MSN, Amazon, Ask Jeeves, and others hot on the tail of Google, it's clear that Google is going to have to do more to stay on top. Be it a new service, or improvements to existing services.

This weeks poll ask, "What would you like to see next from Google?"

A browser? If so.. what kind? Would it be Gecko based like Nvu, K-Meleon, Firefox, Mozilla, and Netscape or would it be Presto based like Opera, Macromedia, and Adobe? Both engines are very popular.

Would it even be a browser? There is a lot of information out there that Google has yet to organize. Financial information, local file management, or maybe even data backup.

Perhaps you'd like to see a change in some of, or maybe all of, Google's current products. Personally, I'd like to see improvements to Google's search while at the same time providing a single sign on for all of their services. As a user of Google's Blogger.com service, I also realize that it needs a bit of work.

So, "What would you like to see next from Google?"

I quite like the idea of a google operating system......

.....but then i'd quite like to see a browser that doesn't require two clicks most days to get a page to open (firefox does this a lot)

An improvement to the search engine would be good i think. due to the insane amount of results that are coming through each time i search, a more advanced search facility would be nice i guess.

I wish we could, however the forum software doesn't allow that. :/ Just have to go with what you want most, or chose other....

Ahh... but what kind of messenger service? ;) Would it be similar to Trillian, GAIM, IM2, and the other all in one services? Would it be a new protocol or use the open source Jabber? Maybe a little of everything? Would it have ads based on your converstaion? :phear:
