Hey guys,
I just bought a 36GB WD Raptor drive and can't get it to boot as the primary drive. I have a DFI Lanparty 875b. rev. B, with 2 other IDE 160GB & 300GB HDs, and 2 optical drives. When ever I boot it reads the Raptor in the no. 2 channel or something like that; my IDE drives as 0 channel and the 2 optical drives as 1 channel. And also in the boot priority menu I had the Raptor as the first to boot, but it wont be the primary drive. Please help. Thanks. |

I usually use the caveman solution: unplug power to IDE drives, install Windows to SATA, plug IDE drives back in. I've been told you can just disable the IDE channel during Windows install and it does the same thing.

Well that sounds good and all, but what happens after I installed windowsxp, shutdown, plug back IDE drives, and it still boots to my original IDE drive?
I dont think I can live with just this Raptor and my optical drives only or Raptor with my 2 IDE drives only. btw, it does boot to the Raptor if I disconnect my Harddrives. EDIT Addon: Wait... Is the reason why my original 160GB is booting up is because it still has a WinXP OS on it? So if I delete that partition, it will have to pick up the Raptor? Thanks again for all your replys. Problem solved: So I was correct in thinking that my IDE pre-installed WinXP was what kept my Raptor from not loading first. I backedup what I needed and deleted that partition and everything is all gravy. This post has been edited by Freeder: Feb 25 2005, 06:02 PM |
