I've been thinking about doing this for awhile, and since I have a few spare minutes this morning, I figured what the hell, might as well introduce myself since I never did before. :p I'd like to encourage all the staff members, old farts, and everyone else her at OCC to introduce themselves as well. ;)

So here it goes.....

I'm sure by now everyone has seen me around OCC. I'm probably one of the most active staff members. My high profile has led to people thinking that I own and/or run OCC. This is not true, I just help out. Matt (LinuXProX) is the owner of OCC, and he has final say in everything that happens. I provide a lot of feedback and suggestions to him, and then he gives the thumbs up or thumbs down.

Let's see here... oh yes, the handle. I picked up the handle "d3bruts1d" several years ago while trying to help the gang at Trillian fix an issue with multiple accounts. I was trying to register a new AIM screen name, and the one I wanted "disturbed" was already taken. - Imagine that. ;) Not willing to give up on using "disturbed" and not wanting to be "disturbed1234" I decided to take a leet approach, and came up with "d3bruts1d". Disturbed, happens to be my favorite group.

I stumbled across OCC one day when I was looking for information building a new system. At the time I was big on software and networking, but hardware was a different story. When I registered here, there were only a handful of active people. RaTeD-R, Psywar, Bosco, sykocus, and a couple of others. I remember someone posting a message one night saying something like "It's 2 am, and I'm the only one online." That's how dead the place was back then, and shows how much this site has grown.

After a few months, I started helping people out here in there where I could. I still wasn't a big hardware person (and to be honest I'm still not). It wasn't long before I was submitting any tech related story I saw to LinuXProX, Bosco, and Posey (the only 3 staff members then). I probably sent in a good 5-10 items each day. Finally, Matt just gave me access to the news system and let me post whatever I wanted.

Around that time Bosco left OCC to try his hand at running a tech site, and formed our Canadian sister OverclockersClubCanada.com. During that time, Matt asked me if I'd be interested in becoming a staff member, and who was I to refuse something like that? :p No application required. ;) Just goes to show that he is watching. Maybe not posting, but always watching. ;)

So, that's my OCC history... here is some other stuff...

Over the years, I've worked in about every industry. My first job was at a Carmike Movie Theater. I've also worked at Duncan Donuts, Dial America (Telemarketing), Security Alert/ADT (door-to-door sales), Kroger (Produce/Stock clerk), Roane State Community College (Network Admin & PC Support), and Clientlogic (Tech Support, Product Specialist, and Tech Supervisor). I'm currently a contractor in Oak Ridge where I handle a number of applications and related duties (PHP programming, Oracle DBA, tech support, and even training).

I strongly believe that the mix of jobs over the years has given me the experience that I need to handle almost any job or person, even if the past jobs were not exactly computer related.

I graduated from Karns High School in 1999 and went to ITT-Tech right after that. I didn't finish up my degree, but that hasn't stopped me. I plan on going back to school after I get some of the debt eliminated, though I will not go back to ITT-Tech. In fact, I wouldn't suggest ITT to anyone. ;)

I played Soccer (AYSO) as a kid. And to be honest, I'd still be playing if I could, though my knees won't allow that. Hopefully, I'll have a son, and he'll enjoy soccer. ;) I've taken Martial Arts, and hope to get back into that some time. I actually had the honor of being kicked around by Sifu Larry Hartsell one time. I've seen that my old instructor, Sifu Jerry McCleary has opened up an actual gym, so I may get in touch with him.

I couldn't write an introduction without at least mentioning my wife. ;) Everyone here knows, CelticaFLM. She's older than me BTW. :P She's great, and all mine. :D

As everyone probably knows, I am a big World of Warcraft addict. I love that damn game (so does the wife). I mainly play on the bleeding Hollow Server as a member of the Alliance, and I'm currently part of The Mithril Twilight Order, a Role Playing Guild.

My experience with Role Playing and MMORPGs isn't limited to just WoW. I've pretty much played almost every other MMORPG out there. It all started with Ultima Online, where I played on the Catskills shard. I was a member of The Celts, The Picts, Shadowclan, and The Order of the Druids in the 5ish years I played. I also tried Everquest, Asherson's Call, FF:Online, DAoC, and Anarchy Online over the years, but always ended up going back to UO for the role playing aspect. I loved Shadowbane, as it was the first game to bring the RPing that I found in UO to the massive scale. I was the leader of a guild known as The Warriors of the North, which actually ended up in the Shadowbane lore. Sadly Shadowbane wasn't a game for small guilds, so I ended up joining Sanguine Wild, a role play guild of shape shifters.

I eventually quit Shadowbane, and didn't play another MMORPG for a while. Now, I'm stuck in WoW. :p

Well, I guess that's enough about me now. :) Hope you enjoyed my long winded, overdue, ramblings I tried to call an introduction.
