Gremlin Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 So got a backplate that came with the card. Is it necessary for me to install it? Thanks

Waco Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 If you're comfortable installing it I can't see a reason to not install it...
RedFury77 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 The backplate is supposed to provide a bit of protection and rigidity to the pcb. Whether it is necessary or not is debatable but it also looks nice so why not. Why is it off of the card though?
Gremlin Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) EVGA was selling the 970 that I got from Step-up with no bak plate on the PCB. I am just under the assumption that people complained and they started offering it for free? I will go home and install it It is just removing screws and attaching the plate that is it.. attached picture is not my card but that is how it looks like.
