Hey guys,

I just registered on this forum to seek for help on building a gaming pc for about 1000

1. I don't see why not

2.You could get away with 8, but I run 24gb because it's just so cheap now.

3. nope

I would get a better GPU, like a 770 or 780GTX instead and maybe a better name motherboard. But everything looks good.

Thanks for the reply.

I dont really know how to check if a RAM is compatible with a motherboard (maybe you or anyone who sees this could give a brief explanation)

About the motherboard. By "a better name" do you mean ASUS?

The GPU's you mentioned are a bit off of my budget

Are you planning to overclock your system? Because you don't need a Z77 board if you don't (and the 3770 cannot be overclocked anyway). Also, I think it would be better to get an i5 3570(K) instead, since there's no big difference in performance between an i5 and i7 in games.
Invest in a better GPU instead.

One more thing, you might want to go for a quality brand PSU instead (like Corsair or XFX).
I think a good alternative found on that website would be the XFX Pro 550w:

Thank you very much for your opinion.

I have another question, about the Socket, is it worth it to get a motherboard with socket 1150 instead of the 1155?

I saw a comparison between INTEL CORE i5 3570K (3.4GHZ) vs INTEL CORE i5 4670k (3.4GHZ) and the new Haswell was a bit better, and the price difference was about 10

If this is a gaming pc then I would go with the cheaper cpu, cheaper ram, and a much better graphics card.  An i5-3570k or i5-4670k are pretty comparable but the z87 boards have better features than the z77 boards, mainly more satalll ports.

The corsair ram will be fine but you can go to the manufactures web site and find the compatibility list if you are concerned.  I'd recommend finding ram with a low-profile heat spreader as to avoid clearance issues with big aftermarket air coolers, or go with big heatspreaders if you have any desire to go water cooling.

the 750ti on the front page is just 139.90 but if you can squeeze it in that r9 280x for 294.90 would make the pc a real good gamer.

Do you already have a disk drive?

I am making a computer on that site you gave me so you can compare i to your own and maybe mix/match what i have chosen and what you had.

If you can use your old disk drive you have in your old computer this is what i would recommend building:

Quick list of specs:

I5-4670K

Hyper 212evo

ASUS-Z87-K

8GB, G-skill RAM

Asus DCII 280X

Seagate 2tb HDD

Nox coolbay red devil

Crossair CX 600w (80+)

Case:

PSU:

Total price is 880~, it is a bit over your budget but a 280X is just WAY better than a gtx 760, that is worth the extra cash.

Unless you plan to overclock I would drop to a none K, you will never notice the difference and even a none K can do some mild overclocking if you want. Bang for the buck the 4570 is an awesome chip. This would allow you to stay with the stock cooler and save some money. If you have no plans to overclock you can also drop to an H87 and again save a bit more money.

As far as gaming you would not be able to tell the difference in gaming experience unless you really pushed an overclock. This means you would get the same actual gaming experience and do it for a lower cost.

On the HD I would look at a single TB drive if possible. I have heard from a number of sources that the 2,3 and 4 TB drives have a much higher failure rate than the 1TB. Also with the money you save from the above suggestions, if you do not hoard on your PC, you could swap out to a lean mean system with a 240 gig SSD and keep the cost the same while getting a nice performance boost.

A 240 Gig SSD will actually hold a lot more than people think. 4 or 5 large game, the OS and office if needed with room for documents. However with document storage moving to the cloud this is less of an issue.

Thank you for your opinion guys.

At the moment im not buying/building the pc right away, and i might go for a bit more on my budget, but im still not sure.

I might follow ComputerEd's idea about getting an 240gb SSD and and HDD 1TB.

About the PC you made WarWeeny, im still going with the Asrock and prolly getting the GTX760, because i already had a bad experience 2 times with the Ati graphic cards, and also i got a great feedback about the gtx700 series.

With time i might change some things but thank you overall for you opinion guys, appreciate it.

Abs0: FYI... Each memory brand like corsair, patriot  have a tool on their website that shows which motherboards are compatible with which memory.. They give you the part #'s as well.. Unfortunately they don't have all of them but you can also email them and they will help you.
