I've got around £150 to spend on a new video card, specifically for OpenCL - I'm only going to be crunching video and audio, no gaming. I had been recommended a 7950, but can't seem to find one in my price range... are the comparatively priced R9 cards not worth it? I won't be overclocking the card or anything as stability is very important, so maybe one of those 'pre-overclocked' versions would be good?
I originally planned to get an nVidia card, but I can run my CUDA only apps on another machine, so that's no biggie.
Anyone have experience with Bitcoin mining or similar? Maybe I'm searching for the wrong terms but I'm finding it hard to find decent reviews/comparisons between cards using non-graphical benchmarks or whatever.
Thanks :)

I found this on ebay though it's just a tad over your budget

Any of the 7900 series should work

Would the 7770 do you well?

Really wish I could experience an SSD but of course my bank tells me that I can not.

These are gameing cards, wouldn't you be better off with a work station video card, you might be able to find a used one on ebay in your price range.

I'd happily buy a workstation card if I could afford it. At this budget, gaming/enthusiast cards are going to outperform any workstation model. However, anybody should feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the link DanTheGamer, will keep that one in mind - and kennethk, I'll add it to my watch list ;)

As long as you go for AMD, you cant really go wrong with OpenCL stuff.

You can get the weeny out of the war, but you cannot get the war out of the weeny

You could open a thread in the OCC marketplace if you want, you can just put '[WTB] HD 7950' or something as the title, more info there ;)
