If I didn't buy the PS1 version to play on my Vita for $5, I would have definitely grabbed this...especially with Achievements!

Define "it"...are you talking about the 1999 version or Steam?

The Steam version has been updated to support XP and beyond.

I was looking at this when it first came to Steam... there was something that made me decide against it, I think it was the DRM.

From what I've been told, you can play it offline once you activate it online with a Square Enix account. When you launch the game it launches the regular Square Enix launcher. Tifa's Bootleg mod works on it (make sure you do it before you start playing, erases achievements and cloud saves).

As AZN said, it's not DRM, it's just a one-time activation/registration.

I think it was that "Ultima" Edition that was supposed to have better compatibility and better textures and all but it still didn't work.

If it was FF VIII and not on Steam or Origin I'd go for it but eh.
