7950 Vapor X + two 8 pin connectors + mem voltage + VRM cooling

Recommended Posts

For those who have recently have bought the Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor X with two 8 pin connectors, I want to get an idea of their VRM cooling capabilities.

I heard mixed reviews about VRM cooling and it seems it has to do with either the cooler/VRM design, and/or the low stock memory voltage 1.5v. Supposedly there should be a new vBios that changes the memory voltage to 1.6v for better vrm cooling but that is questionable.

Do you know what are the stock memory voltages on them? is it 1.5v or 1.6v?

If not, what are your mem clocks and VRM temps?

Also, were you able to change the GPU voltage using Trixx 4.6.0 in Bios1? Because I heard the card has LL to lock the voltage and the new Trixx can disable that.

Edit: I was just doing some research and I think I might go with the Sapphire Dual X HD 7950 boost rev 3 instead. Vapor-X seems to have dubious issues surrounding voltage locks and VRM components/heating/cooling.

Its not about competing its about getting a feel for where yours will overclock so that I have a frame of reference greater than 3 Vapor-X or Dual-X 7950's will do.

Good luck in your overclocking.
