I have used the recommended procedure on the Ubuntu website. I cant install onto my gigabyte mobo.
The led flashes so the USB is getting power. The screen says loading operating system...boot error

Is that all it says?

Personally I use "Unetbootin" to set up my thumb drives.

Yes that is all it says. I have looked and I don't think it is recognizing the USB. Any suggestions?

Some USB drives simply don't boot...but I'd try using unetbootin to "burn" the drive again.

And for ther record i have to ask. You do mean install it to your hdd not your mobo right?

Do you have the bios set to boot from usb? I know when i ran a thumbdrive distro while waiting for my hdd rma that it would not automatically boot from the usb despite the lack of other sources.

You can also use with32disk imager while burning Ubuntu image to flash drive. I use it to burn any OS in to flash drives, and he best thing is it's free.
