I can't understand whether it is pci-e x8 slot or a x16 running at x8 speed. Actually I can't see anything specific in the small system picture there.
Now, assuming that it have x8 slot, a x8 can would be a descent choice, but, getting a normal mid-end x16 card, and putting it there does also make sense, considering the low availibility of x8 or x4 cards.

Usually its a 16x slot that only runs at 4x or 8x speed.

For what? As long as the physical slot is x16 size-wise any PCIe card will fit and work just fine.Right, My primary concern is buying a compatible card(s).
