As per request, here is the attempt of a thread for progress on the Miata. Finally have most of the parts here this week -- think the roll bar is the last to be getting here...

Anyway -- Gunner seems to like the new seats...

As far as pictures -- I don't think it'll be quite like the Tiger car -- we've missed taking shots a few times already -- I'll try and grab some tomorrow. Waco is too excited to get started now...

I suck at doing work logs. So here's what has been done so far that I haven't taken pictures of (completely):

Stripped the interior
Sprayed the floor pan with rubberized undercoating (to keep rust out if the inside of the car ever gets wet)
Removed the stock steering wheel (the airbag was disabled anyway, so no real harm in replacing it)
Stripped the exterior of all trim and light fixtures
Tinted the lights (pic incoming)

So here are the pictures we've got so far:

The car, as it was when I drove it home for the first time. It's dirty.

Here's the interior right after we stripped it. It wasn't cleaned here at all, most of the crap on the floor pan is what was left of the nearly 20 year old soundproofing. :P

And here are the lights I just finished tinting. They still need a coat of clear, but they look BLACK even in direct light. The flash of my phone makes them look a lot brighter than they really are.

The actual taillights on the car were busted so I've got new ones to put on. I haven't decided whether I want to tint them or not (since they are already black) but that'll be decided once I put them on the car. I'll snap a pic of them in a few minutes. :)

So is this car going to be flat black like that Altima or whatever you had? :P

Looking forward to the progress of it.

It is indeed...with red racing stripes.

I'll be doing a "good" job with it though - like the first time I painted my old Lumina. It will be a finish similar to this (but better, since I'm actually going to take my time):

Nah - the stripes will be dark red metallic - and glossy. :D

EDIT: But yeah, same method of painting. Thankfully the black covers EXTREMELY well so it's likely I'll only need to do a single coat. I might do two just for the hell of it though.

I am curious why you want a car that looks primered with stripes instead of going atleast semi gloss

I like the flat black look. It won't look like a crappy primer job that was never painted. I just hate the way semi-gloss/satin looks.
