I want to convert my external Hitatchi 500gb hd into Fat32 so I can store movies etc on it and hook it to my xbox 360.
how do i convert from NTFS to FAT32 thanks -------------------- So what you're saying is that you read the title, ignored the OP's post, made a quick and reckless post, which by itself shows that you failed to do something as basic as reading the first post in the thread, and then got caught. You will need to format, you can't convert from a file system to another

This will completely wipe everything on it and format it as fat32. Oh yeah, that is for Windows XP, I'm not sure if it works the same in Win7. Alternatively (again not sure about Win7) right clicking on the drive in my computer, clicking on format, selecting FAT32 and hitting "START" should work as well. I've always liked the command prompt way for a lot of things better. -------------------- ![]() CASE: Antec P182 CPU: Xeon X3220MEMORY: 4GB DDR2 GPU: XFX 8800GTS (Alpha Dog Edition) + Gigabyte 8800GT for physx MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 PSU: Antec EA500 LCD: 20" Acer Widescreen OS: Windows XP - Use the following link to access the Official Overclockersclub Chat Room: OCC CHAT (be sure to set you browsers irc handler to your standalone IRC client) |

I assume you're formatting something to be windows/mac/linux compatible. That'd be the only logical explanation for what you're doing
