I am thinking about building a computer. I am going to use it for audio recording and mixing. I also would like to make it quiet but of course want to overclock. Who wouldn't?
Here is what I have so far: I7 920 GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128362 CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT 6GB (3 x 2GB) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145269 - is this fast enough or should I take it a step up? CORSAIR CMPSU-750HX 750W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817139010 Noctua NH-U12P http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9624/cpu...l?tl=g40c14s757 OR Prolimatech_Megahalems http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8807/cpu...l?tl=g40c14s757 Antec P193 or P183 - I was also thinking about a rackmount case but I was a bit concered about airflow and if it would be as quiet. Thoughs? Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136284 - or something quiet, not soild state to expensive. Video card ????? - not sure, something good but inexpensive around like $75 |

nice build i have the same cpu and board , i will tell ya one thing : the ud4p performs the same as ud5 , after i got the ud5 i learned that ..
this way you can get a better card and that will make a noticeable and a huge difference .. and for the psu , if you intend to run more that 2 card then it is ok but if you will run more i think 650-700w will be better and as i recall there are good 650-700w psus which can handle big hungry cards like 280 and 285 good luck tell us what you think about what i said about the board and how much money you can put in a card and we will tell ya what card to get .. I say keep everything except just get a 4670 which is more then enough power for mainstream games and everything else. Keep the Corsair PSU because its perfect for future proofing your system!

Probally just one video card. But will run other PCI cards. Do you guys like rackmount cases, or are they just to expensive, noisy, and not good enough air flow for overclocking. Prices bewteen to MOBO are really similar. It look like the only main difference is the ud4p had "Built-in TPM chip with 2048bits encryption to highest level digital data protection" and the ud5 has quick boost. Both have the same ICH10R Chipset. I was looking at the specs on the PSU on corsairs web site it looked the one that was higher power made less noise (disregarding the 1000w.) I guess it had to work less hard to generate power. I found these charts if acurate intesting. http://corsair.com/products/hx650/hx650-N-chart.png http://corsair.com/products/hx750/hx750-noise-chart.gif http://corsair.com/products/hx850/hx850-noise-chart.gif http://corsair.com/_images/charts/hx1000w_noise.jpg Any heatsink you guys prefer for being quiet? |

If there isn't any major gaming use (read: large graphics cards) in the near or even distant future, I would drop the PSU down to the 620HX. Even that is overkill. Graphics cards can be a little noisy with their tiny fans - passive or aftermarket heatsinks can take care of this.

Yeah same, a HX620 is modular and pumps out plenty of ampage, I think like 52 AMPS compared to my TX850 which puts out 70 AMPS

since i'm an nvidia guy i think i would suggest a GT 220 for the low power consumption and low heat output, thus low noise

Might as well get the 4670 since its only $75 for the HIS 1GB model, and the dual cooler keeps temps very low, and that fan only runs at 30% non stop without control over the fan. I would know this because my brother is running that card in his system. Totally recommend the 4670! -------------------- MusicAsRequested CM Centurion 5 Red Case E2200 @ 3.2 Ghz, 400 x 8, 1.4V Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Rev. 1.1 4GB Kingston HyperX PC2-8500 HD 2600XT, 4770 out for RMA :( Western Digital 320GB HD Rosewill 550W Crossfire/SLI PSU Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

What do you guys think of this Gigabyte card to match gigabyte MOBO and nice price tag?

I would go with the Gigabyte card. This is based only on my great experiences using Gigabyte products, including their video cards. Sapphire has been hit and miss for me lately - especially when I've needed to RMA something. Knock on wood I've never had to worry about that with my Gigabyte gear.
