ASUS has come up with an unleashing mode under ACC in their latest BIOS update of M4A78T-E to help unlock the cores in Phenom II x3 and x2.
It successfully unlocked my 4th CPU but core temperatures cannot be monitored now.. Any solution for this? -------------------- Processor: AMD Phenom II x3 720 (Stock Cooler) | Motherboard: ASUS M4A78T-E | Graphics: XFX GTS 250 1 GB Core Edition RAM: Transcend DDR3 1333Mhz CL9 2x2GB | HDD: WD Green 500GB (16 MB Cache) Cabinet: Coolermaster NV 690 | PSU: Coolermaster VX550 | Monitor: Samsung 940BW (19") |

Im very sure that it was not Asus who "invented" it... and it is not meant to help unlock, its actualy meant to help OC better using the AMD OverDrive. |

Pretty much...
And acc is enabled by default on phenom 2 procys. Also asus introduced the unleashing mode and not acc. And this mode is meant for unlocking cores. Any idea on core temp monitoring? Its not working after the unlock. -------------------- Processor: AMD Phenom II x3 720 (Stock Cooler) | Motherboard: ASUS M4A78T-E | Graphics: XFX GTS 250 1 GB Core Edition RAM: Transcend DDR3 1333Mhz CL9 2x2GB | HDD: WD Green 500GB (16 MB Cache) Cabinet: Coolermaster NV 690 | PSU: Coolermaster VX550 | Monitor: Samsung 940BW (19") |

So that's what Unleashing mode is meant for???
I noticed it when i updated my BIOS to 1610, but didnt care too much to look into it because i knew you couldn't unlock the 4th core with official bioses (at least previous BIOSes...) sweet.. i might have to check this out As for the temp monitoring thing, i dont know right now, but we'll see if I get the same issue or not when i try it, since we have the same mobo and jw, but where did you find out that unleashing mode unlocks the disabled cores? -------------------- Steam: fearspartan117

The key here is UNLEASHING MODE. Stop focusing on ACC. No Asus didn't invent ACC. They did however add UNLEASHING MODE which is found under ACC in the BIOS. UNLEASHING MODE is specifically for unlocking cores in Asus' updated BIOS. http://www.overclock.net/amd-motherboards/...kers-unite.html video example of unleashing mode on the Asus M4A78 motherboard. But its still under ACC and basicly works like ACC. So does this UNLEASHING MODE guarantee you a successful unlock?

No. Not all Tricores can be unlocked for the fourth core.

Does this unleashing mode even work on the X2 550?
So whats the benefit over ACC? |

@PingoPongo
I meant that "it helps unlock" and not 'unlocks'. I am sorry for saying "this mode is meant for unlocking cores" as I do not have any documentation from ASUS to prove that. Also you would like you to wonder why enabling ACC on the mobos (like Biostar) unlocks the CPU cores. I guess you would want to Google the particular CPU there is some stuff on forums about that. @Others +1 to 'all cores may not be capable of being unlocked' I do not really have a link or a source as such but it helped me unlock when other settings did not. However, Googling may lead you to other forums where people have discussed this topic. Btw, I had been so frustrated with the ACC thing not being able to unlock cores that I didn't see it when I upgraded to 1610 (Though I noticed that on other forums now). Please do let me know if it helps unlock CPU cores and if there is anything on temperature monitoring. -------------------- Processor: AMD Phenom II x3 720 (Stock Cooler) | Motherboard: ASUS M4A78T-E | Graphics: XFX GTS 250 1 GB Core Edition RAM: Transcend DDR3 1333Mhz CL9 2x2GB | HDD: WD Green 500GB (16 MB Cache) Cabinet: Coolermaster NV 690 | PSU: Coolermaster VX550 | Monitor: Samsung 940BW (19") |

Nothing will guarantee unlocking cores. Previously ACC wouldn't unlock cores on that Asus motherboard. They added the unleashing mode to potentially unlock the cores. Unlocking the cores on this Asus motherboard wasn't possible previously before the unleashing mode BIOS update.
